Several years ago in school, a wonderful biology professor stated, “If we could see everything, we would never; shake hands, pet an animal, hug, kiss, or even eat!” It has uncomfortably remained in my memory.

We have loved and cared for several children. Read about our incredible life here! The fun part is that we have seen many children recover their health quickly based on diet. But there is a topic that is hush-hush…in open circles. But we talk about it openly in our home. And with some knowledge comes responsibility.

With many of our foster children we experienced illnesses where the symptoms were caused by parasitic worms. It makes complete sense that people (including medical doctors) don’t talk about worms in our bodies…It’s downright disgusting! However, it needs to be discussed more openly because we all get them.

    I read your article here:
    and loved it. I just ordered DE, and a tincture of wormwood, black walnut hull, and clove, from Amazon. All the research says that DE is safe taken for months, or even years. However, I wasn’t sure how often to take the tincture. I would love it if you could explain the 3 days in a month concept, as well as how it relates to the moon. Is it the three days following the full moon, or before. Thanks so much for your wonderful article!

    1. Thank you, Garima. We have never done the black walnut hull tinctures for more than a few days because it is so strong. Several herbalists have guided us. We detox on the full moon because so many of our OB&BYN friends would share how active the deliveries are on full moons. We just changed the day and in our personal experience our detox seems stronger on these days. Usually, on the full moon day. If someone is a little “off”, then we will do the day before, of, and the day after a full moon. Each family is different. I would love to find a study on this. {smile}

  2. My 5 year old daughter has been experiencing diarrhea once or twice a day for about two weeks. She often has accidents and says she didnt even know it was happening until she went to the bathroom and saw some had come out. So I have been looking into the parasite possibility. My question is how long should we do the DE with her and is there a specific supplement or two you recommend for the amino acids and mineral supplementation?

    1. Hi, Charis. We did the DTE for a week at that age, but always take minerals and aminos. What we do is take Biotics Research Amino Quick Sorb and we order Jo Mar Labs H-7. This one has the most amino acids. Also, minerals are critical. The health store is a wealth of information for the cleanest options they carry, but we use Biotics Research Basic 9 and Multi-Mins. Look at weight on the labels, but for my 5 year old (35 lbs) we did 2 H-7 or 10 drops of Quick sorb Amino Acids. We also did 1 or 2 of the Basic 9. Here is a link. and We have an awesome holistic physician where we live. If you just feel like it gets ahead of you…check out MedMap There are some very good holistic doctors.

  3. Thanks so much for that info. We just got all our minerals, AA’s and DE in the mail. Just one more question. Ive read different dosages for adults, but almost none for children. My daughter is roughly 50 lbs(super tall) so Im wondering what would be the proper DE dosage. Im thinking 2 tsp for a week? I also got the papaya seeds. How much daily and how long for those?
