The Story of the Ghost Poo!

We have a fun game around our home. Well, I’m not sure it is a game, but it is certainly purposeful!

It’s all about the POO!

When we started getting healthy, changing our diet , changing our habits…one of the most quickly visible changes was the Poo! I tell you the secret to discovering the health of a child or yourself is coded in the way your poo looks.  It’s not a well-discussed topic out in society, but it really is a topic that should be discussed within the family walls. Read why health is so important to our family.

As we have birth, fostered, and adopted children, one thing is poignantly clear. Children are sick. But it can change for the better and almost all of our children have improved. We find that with some effort, a child can heal rather quickly. When there is a chronic issue, healing my take longer…but the improvement in behavior and vitality makes it all worthwhile! So here is how:

There are many great diet options out there today. There are also some harmful diets. Suffice to say that if you are ordering or purchasing foods in a box, you are consuming too much processed food with additives, such as chemicals and modified ingredients. Most especially if those foods come in the mail!!! Even if a celebrity is paid millions of dollars and looks gorgeous…it’s not food.

Most Positively, based on your body type, there are wonderful real food diets available.

Weston A. Price – Good foods, real foods, local farmers

GAPS – Definitely healing and great for discovering food allergies! Check out my colleague and her class here.

Paleo – Meat and vegetables. Eliminating all grains, nuts, breads

What’s Poo Got to Do with it?

Ok…the story of the ghost poo! As our family ventures through all of these diets…and we continue to learn..Our poo is greatly affected.  We have had all sorts and it goes good- then bad as we discover what foods our bodies can absorb and utilize.

We have many types of poo:

Bumpy – bad

Short and stumpy – bad

Flat and ribbony – bad

Balls – bad

Smooth and long – good

Read this book, GAPS, to learn the meaning of all these types.

I highly recommend my friend Hilary’s book for yummy recipes, especially if you choose to follow our path of healing! The Heal Your Gut Cookbook.

Winner Poo!

Our son had finally moved through the GAPS Diet to the infamously good “smooth and long” poo. We are super excited and he realizes that his gut is clean right now. We all value our health and work diligently to keep our guts clean.

However, on this particular day, my son is devastated! He has sacrificed and worked hard to eat well and avoid the temptations of candy that all his little friends are allowed to enjoy. He has avoided the bread which is omnipresent and filled with chemicals and distributed everywhere…restaurants, friends, and family-members’ homes…

Yet 1 year later, after the GAPS diet and smooth poo, his poo has disappeared! He promises that he has had a bowel movement! He wipes and it is so clean it is really not necessary to wipe! I call it….

The Ghost Poo!

Then a week later another son does the same. Then another. Then me! Well, we have decided that this is actually the best poo on the planet. It is so clean that it just slides out and down the loo without any trace of existence. Hence the family name; the ghost poo.

We don’t “do” scary but we certainly wish you good health and many Ghost Poos! {smile}…as you keep Fostering Nutrition!
